Background:

The legal industry is undergoing a fundamental transformation because of rapid changes in law, science & technology. At the same time, law has increasingly transcended the national boundaries, with interactions between national, and transnational legal regimes, actors and practices. Pivotal developments such as these have widened the scope of existing practices and ideologies to meet the challenges of the 21st century.
Foundation:

In this context, Research Council of Law, Science and Technology has been founded as a non-partisan, non-profit think tank in February 2016.The vision behind RCLST is to conduct research with an interdisciplinary approach of various fields of law, science and technology aiding social justice system domestically and internationally.

Disseminating knowledge amongst investigative agencies, lawyers, judiciary and various stake holders’ areas intercepting law, science and technology emphasizing evidence science is also one of the main objectives.

RCLST is committed to raise professional understanding and public awareness of technical and ethical challenges that are being faced in the fields of Cyber & Information Technology Laws, Environmental Issues, Intellectual Property and Copyright Laws, Bio-Technology, Forensics and International Humanitarian Law, wars, peace & security.

It is our earnest objective to position RCLST as a leading international center of law, science and technology in order to consolidate current and establish future interdisciplinary research projects.

Furthermore, we are striving to convene events and conferences, conduct novel research projects and act as a forum to discuss and plan new research ventures with entities that are already dwelling in the aforesaid areas.

RCLST foresees to bring professors and practitioners from international forums to lead these discussions through lectures, speaker panels, and reading groups.

MR. ABDULLAH USMAN

Mr. Abdullah Usman, Advocate High Court is an experienced lawyer. Having his early education at Forman Christian College Lahore, graduation and masters in chemistry from Government College University Lahore, he graduated in law and then got his LL.M with specialty in Human Rights Law from University of South Asia. He is a nominated member of American Chemical Society, USA. He received continuing legal education from American Academy of Forensic Sciences U.S.A.

He is an academician endeavoring to develop importance of Law, Science and Technology in Pakistan’s policing and legal system. He has laid down foundations of RCLST and runs Law, Science and Technology Blog, Abdullah Law Chambers www.abdullahlawchambers.com for educational purposes.

He is a visiting Professor at Government College University, Lahore and has conducted seminars and lectures on the importance of law, science and technology to different stake holders.

He teaches Forensic Law and Law of Evidence & International Security to M.Phil Forensic Chemistry, Diploma and Certificate in Forensic Science students at GCU Lahore in collaboration with Punjab Forensic Science Agency/PFSA.

He is a resource person at Punjab Judicial Academy where he delivers lectures promoting awareness of overlapping areas of law and technology among the judicial officers.

He has been Chair in Jurisprudence session, Speaker Pre Conference Workshop in 1st International Conference of Forensic Science and Justice 21-24 Oct 2014 held at Government College University Lahore. He is organizing Symposium “ Chemistry of Peace” for American Chemical Society Annual meeting San Diego USA in March 2016 and presenting “Battlefield Forensics” in relevance to Terrorism and Human Rights at American Academy of Forensic Sciences in its 68th Annual Scientific Meeting - Las Vegas, NV in Feb 2016.

DR. ZEESHAN MAJEED
[PHD FROM KARLSRUHE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, GERMANY]
Dr. Zeeshan Majeed is a Senior Research Fellow at RCLST.

His areas of specialization are 3d/4f based single molecule magnets, single chain magnets and metal organic frameworks.

He is a Post-doctoral fellow at the Chinese Academy of Sciences on the project of the use of metal organic frameworks as efficient means of bio alcohol recovery; as well as endeavors research fellow at the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia on the project of employing 4f metals and carboxylate ligands towards synthesizing novel polyoxometalate clusters.

MR. AWAIS CHOUDHRY

Mr. Awais Choudhry is associated with RCLST and is also working as an Associate Lawyer with Abdullah Law Chambers. He completed his Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of London, wherein, his elective areas of interests were Public & Private International law.
Working as a research fellow with RCLST his core research expertise includes analyzing issues with respect to the rise of cyber-crimes, intellectual property rights and the developing nature of Information Technology laws in Pakistan.

Mr. Shahid Ali, B.Sc, LL.B Punjab University Lahore is working as a Research Associate. His major responsibilities include assisting on various allocated research projects. He is a key resource person working on medico legal aspects in the criminal justice system of Pakistan.

Barrister Hashim Khalid is working as a Research Associate at RCLST. His areas of expertise include public international law, international human rights law, international humanitarian law and international security.

He combines research and litigation adjusting his expertise of being conversant with the domestic & British legal system and the challenges faced in implementing international law in Pakistan.
